About the player
Jakub Zieliński made his professional debut for VfL Wolfsburg on 8 August 2026, starting the opening match of the 2. Bundesliga season against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in place of the injured Timon Wellenreuther. At 18 years old Zieliński became the youngest goalkeeper to play for the club.
Born in Gdańsk, he began at Jaguar Gdańsk before joining Gedania Gdańsk, where he made his senior debut in the III liga at the age of 14. In summer 2023 he moved to Legia Warszawa on a free transfer, spending two seasons with the club's U19 side and with Legia II, for whom he made 30 league appearances in the III liga as well as four in the UEFA Youth League. With Legia II he won the Masovia Regional Polish Cup in the 2024–25 season, and he was also part of the Legia U19 squad that won the Central Youth League title.
Wolfsburg signed Zieliński from Legia in the summer of 2025, with the Polish club retaining a sell-on clause on any future transfer. After his league debut, he added further appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and one in the DFB-Pokal during the 2026–27 season.
At international level, Zieliński has progressed through Poland's youth ranks, from the U15s up to the U18s, and is currently with the U19 team. His performances at U17 level included saving three penalties against Montenegro at the Syrenka Cup.
