About the player
Two debuts inside a fortnight marked Janne Berner's arrival in senior football. He first appeared for Hertha BSC in the DFB-Pokal against Preußen Münster on 18 August 2025, then made his 2. Bundesliga bow eleven days later against SV 07 Elversberg, picking up a yellow card in the 84th minute. His league minutes stayed sparse from there — a further outing came against Arminia Bielefeld the following May.
Berner started at SV Nufringen and joined the VfB Stuttgart academy in 2015. In 2022 he moved to 1. FC Heidenheim, where he played A-Jugend football until 2024.
He arrived at Hertha BSC on 1 July 2024 as a free agent and was placed initially with Hertha BSC II. That progression was formalised in November 2025, when he signed a professional contract with the club running until 2028.
On 29 July 2026, Hertha announced that Berner would spend the 2026/27 season on loan at SC Verl in the 3. Liga, with the arrangement running until 30 June 2027. No fee was involved, either in the original transfer to Hertha or in the loan.
He has yet to win a major individual award or a team title.
