Justin Hoogma

Justin Hoogma is the son of former Dutch international Nico-Jan Hoogma, and it was at Heracles Almelo, the club where he first broke through, that he made his mark early. Coming through the FC Twente academy before switching to Heracles in 2016, Hoogma made his senior debut that same season, and by 2016–17 he had become the youngest player in Eredivisie history to feature in every minute of a full 34-match campaign.

That season persuaded Hoffenheim to sign him in June 2017 for a fee widely reported at around €2 million, but the move to the Bundesliga never took hold: Hoogma made only two first-team appearances for the German club. Loan spells followed at St Pauli, Utrecht and Greuther Fürth, with his two seasons at Utrecht the most productive of the three, yielding 42 appearances and two goals. The Fürth loan was cut short after just three games.

Hoogma returned to Heracles Almelo permanently in January 2022, and the second spell brought success: as captain, he led the club to the Eerste Divisie title in 2022–23 and promotion back to the Eredivisie. He went on to make 89 league appearances in that second stint before leaving on a free transfer in July 2025 to join Willem II on a contract to 2027.

At youth level, Hoogma represented the Netherlands from under-19 through to under-21 level, without going on to earn a senior cap.
