Leonardo Pais

Leonardo Pais came through the academy at Defensor Sporting, where he stayed until 2016 before a free transfer to Montevideo City Torque, scoring four goals in over sixty appearances across two seasons. Every one of his moves, from his first departure from Defensor Sporting through to his arrival at Cerro, has been a free transfer. His international story belongs largely to the youth ranks. Pais was capped 15 times for Uruguay's under-17 side, scoring against Canada at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and went on to earn 14 caps for the under-20 team. He played every one of Uruguay's seven matches at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup as the side reached the final. He was also part of the under-22 squad at the 2011 Pan American Games. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
