Luíz Lúcio Reis Júnior

Luiz Júnior started out with Clube Atlético Diadema, making his senior debut in April 2017, before a spell at Mirassol Futebol Clube. In 2019 he moved to Portugal to join F.C. Famalicão, initially with the under-19 squad. He worked his way through the under-23 side and made his professional debut in November 2020, then signed a permanent contract with the club in February 2021.

His time in Portugal brought individual recognition: he was named Primeira Liga Goalkeeper of the Month three times, including in September and October/November 2023. That form led to his move to Villarreal CF on 20 August 2024, on a six-year contract running until 30 June 2030. The transfer fee was widely reported at €12 million, though the club's own announcement did not confirm a figure.

Left-footed, Luiz Júnior has settled into Villarreal's goal wearing the number 1 shirt. Despite his club form, he has not yet won a major team trophy. On the international front, he has represented Brazil at under-20 level, called up under coach André Jardine in 2020, and was later included in a preliminary list for the 2026 World Cup, though he has not made a senior appearance for the national side.
