About the player
Mario Gjolaj has spent his career moving between three clubs in Montenegro's top flight, a pattern that has taken him back to where he started. He began with Dečić Tuzi, and it was there, in the 2020–2021 season, that he had his biggest moment: a place in the starting eleven for the Montenegrin Cup final, which Dečić lost to Budućnost Podgorica. That same season the club finished third in the Montenegrin First League.
From Dečić he moved on loan, or in a period of overlapping spells, to FK Zeta during the 2021–2022 season, before a permanent switch to FK Iskra Danilovgrad in 2022. He stayed there until 2023, when he returned to Dečić. A further move followed in August 2024, this time to FK Jezero on a free transfer, before he came back to Dečić again in July 2026.
Gjolaj has represented Montenegro, though without the individual honours — top scorer, best young player or a league title — that would mark him out as an exceptional talent. The 2020–2021 cup run remains the clearest highlight on his record.
