About the player
Mariusz Malec was formed in the Ruch Chorzów academy, he began his senior career at Polonia Bytom, where he made 55 appearances and scored 4 goals across two seasons and helped the club win promotion to the second tier through the play-offs against Warta Poznań. From there he worked his way up through Olimpia Grudziądz and Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała before a move to Pogoń Szczecin in 2018 for a reported fee of around €65,000 brought him his Ekstraklasa debut.
He reached the Polish Cup final in back-to-back campaigns, losing 1-2 to Wisła Kraków in 2023/2024 and 3-4 to Legia Warsaw the following season. In the second of those finals, a calf injury kept him out of the matchday squad; he travelled with the team, but coach Robert Kolendowicz confirmed beforehand that he would not play.
His contract with Pogoń Szczecin expired at the end of the 2024/2025 season, and he joined Śląsk Wrocław as a free agent.
