About the player
Ottó Hindrich arrived at Legia Warszawa in January 2026 as part of an unusual deal: of the fee reported between €500,000 and €600,000, €350,000 from Legia plus €150,000 from a sell-on clause tied to Kisvárda FC went towards paying off unpaid wages at CFR Cluj, a club in financial difficulty. The goalkeeper signed a contract running until 30 June 2030, joining a squad where sporting director Michał Żewłakow and coach Marek Papszun had already installed Kacper Tobiasz and Jakub Kobylak as options between the posts.
Born in Cluj-Napoca and holding both Romanian and Hungarian citizenship through his Transylvanian Saxon family background, Hindrich came through the CFR Cluj academy and made his senior debut for the club in June 2020. A loan to ASU Politehnica Timișoara followed that same year, before he returned to Cluj in 2021 and established himself as a regular starter, helping the team win the Liga I title that season. Back at CFR Cluj from June 2023, he became first-choice goalkeeper.
His honours include two Liga I titles with CFR Cluj and a runner-up finish in the Supercupa României in 2025. Hindrich has also represented Romania at every youth level from U18 to U21, and has since been capped twice by the senior national team.
