Patrick Dorgu's move to Manchester United in February 2025 broke Lecce's transfer record: the Italian club sold him for an initial €30 million, with add-ons that could take the total to €35 million. It capped a rapid rise for a player who had joined Lecce from the FC Nordsjælland academy for around €200,000 just three years earlier, having started out at Akademisk Boldklub. He made his senior debut for Lecce in the Coppa Italia in August 2023 and went on to make 53 Serie A appearances, scoring five goals, before United came calling.

His start in Manchester was eventful. On his first Premier League start, against Ipswich Town, he was sent off for a challenge on Omari Hutchinson, though United won 3-2 and manager Ruben Amorim defended him, pointing to his aggressive desire to win the ball back. His first goal for the club followed on Boxing Day 2025 against Newcastle United, and he added another against Manchester City in January 2026. A long-range half-volley against Arsenal later that January was voted United's Goal of the Season for 2025-26.

Dorgu has represented Denmark at every youth level from U18 to U21 before making his senior debut in September 2024 against Switzerland. He came off the bench in that match and scored just 42 seconds later, the fastest goal on a senior debut in Danish history. He was named Danish Young Player of the Year in 2024.
