About the player
Paul Alexandru Iacob came through Farul Constanța before moving into the Gheorghe Hagi Academy at Viitorul Constanța, making his senior debut there in 2014. Rather than a straight run in the first team, his development came through a string of loans: spells at Gaz Metan Mediaș, FC Brașov, ASA Târgu Mureș, Dunărea Călărași and Chindia Târgoviște gave him regular football away from Constanța.
Iacob won the Liga II title twice during those loan years, with Gaz Metan Mediaș and again with Dunărea Călărași, before lifting the Cupa României and the Supercupa României back at Viitorul Constanța. He made the move to Chindia Târgoviște permanent in 2021, then joined Rapid București the following year. A loan to FC Botoșani followed in 2025 before he signed for Oțelul Galați on a free transfer that August.
At international level, Iacob was capped twice for Romania's under-21 side between 2017 and 2019, though he has not featured for the senior national team. He has built a career total of close to 300 league appearances.
