About the player
Rafa Soares grew up in Marco de Canaveses and joined the Porto academy in 2005, arriving from local side Alpendorada. In 2017 Fulham took him on loan to English football, though the move was cut short and he returned to Portugal that January.
A permanent transfer to Portimonense followed, but it was at Vitória de Guimarães, from the summer of 2018, that he wore the shirt for four seasons and added a loan spell at Spanish club SD Eibar along the way. In 2022 he left Portugal for Greece, signing a three-year deal with PAOK.
He returned to Portuguese football in September 2024, joining Famalicão on a two-year contract as an experienced left-back for a squad rebuilding at that level. At international level, Soares represented Portugal through the U-17, U-19 and U-21 age groups, though a senior cap never came. His subsequent move to Estrela da Amadora, on a free transfer with a contract running to 2028.
