About the player
Sydney Agina made his mark on international football. Coming on as a substitute in the 68th minute of Kenya's friendly against Lesotho on 7 June 2026, he set up two goals in a 4–0 win. It was his first senior appearance for the Harambee Stars, who had called him up the month before under coach Benni McCarthy.
Agina was born in Manchester and holds Kenyan nationality through his parents. Stoke City took him into the youth system at under-8 level in 2014, and he stayed through the age groups. He signed a scholarship in June 2023 and a first professional contract in the summer of 2025.
His first-team debut came in the Championship on 10 March 2026, against Ipswich Town. He made five league appearances in the 2025–26 season, all as a right-back.
In July 2026 Stoke sent him to Forest Green Rovers on loan until January 2027. The aim was regular first-team football in the National League. He has made four appearances for the club so far.
Agina is still at the start of his senior career, with a Championship debut, a loan in non-league football and an international debut all coming within a few months of each other.
