Samuel James Gallagher

Samuel Gallagher arrived at Southampton as a teenager, joining the academy from Plymouth Argyle before signing a professional deal in April 2012. The 6 ft 4 in striker found his path to regular football difficult, requiring a series of loans to gain experience. He moved to Milton Keynes Dons for the 2015–16 campaign, followed by a stint at Blackburn Rovers where he began to establish himself as a consistent performer.

His time at Blackburn Rovers proved pivotal. After a loan spell in 2016–17 that saw him score 11 goals in 43 appearances, Gallagher returned to Ewood Park permanently in 2019. The move for £5 million marked a significant moment in his career, allowing him to settle into a starting role. He became a vital part of the side, making 176 appearances and netting 34 goals over five seasons. During this period, he also impressed during a loan at Birmingham City, where he finished as the team’s top league goalscorer for the 2017–18 season.

In July 2024, Gallagher moved to Stoke City on a three-year contract. The transition saw him make an immediate impact in the first team. He has featured in 47 matches for the Potters, contributing seven goals since his arrival.

Despite his club success, he has not yet received a senior call-up for the national side. The move to Stoke City represents a new chapter for the forward, who continues to develop his game at the highest level.
