About the player
Stefan Lončar made his name at Sutjeska Nikšić, where he came through and helped the club to the Montenegrin First League title in the 2017/18 season. He was named the league's Best Player that year, the clearest marker of a spell that also brought a Montenegrin Cup win during his time in Nikšić.
A move to Deportivo Alavés in 2019 did not result in first-team football in Spain; he went straight out on loan to Istra 1961 in Croatia, where he stayed until 2021. Spells at Novi Pazar in Serbia and then Debrecen in Hungary followed, the latter bringing a Nemzeti Bajnokság I Goal of the Month award in September 2023.
Lončar joined Akron Tolyatti in July 2024 and quickly became the team's most productive player, contributing four goals and five assists in 17 matches during the 2024/2025 season. That form led to him being handed the captaincy and signing a contract extension to 2028.
At international level, Lončar made his senior debut for Montenegro on 28 May 2018 in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina and has gone on to earn 23 caps for his country.
