Samir Ben Brahim's rise to Guingamp has run through the lower reaches of French football. Born in Carcassonne, the right-footed midfielder began his senior career with FU Narbonne before a move to RC Olympique Agathois for the 2023/2024 season: in National 3 he scored 4 goals and set up 12 more in 18 matches.
That form earned him a free transfer to FC Istres in July 2024, where he continued to contribute directly to goals, scoring 5 and assisting 5 more in 18 appearances across all competitions in 2024/2025, including a goal in the Coupe de France against Grenoble Foot 38. He was part of an Istres side that went 30 consecutive home matches without defeat in National 2, a run that underlined the team's consistency during his time there.
