Ganghane secured a 1-0 victory over Boulogne in the second round of Ligue 2 on Friday evening, grinding out a result that ended a run of four games without a win. Stanislas Maxim Tom Kielt's late strike in the eighty-sixth minute proved decisive after what was largely a cagey contest where chances were at a premium.
Tom Ducrocq picked up a yellow card in the twelfth minute, the first of several bookings that accumulated as the game grew increasingly physical. The home side made four substitutions around the seventy-second minute, bringing on Abdallah, Averlant, Sanchez Da Silva and Besic in quick succession, while Boulogne responded with three changes of their own at the seventy-eighth hour.
The breakthrough finally arrived when Kielt found space to fire home, putting the hosts ahead and allowing them to pick up their first points of the season. By then the crowd had grown restless, and three yellow cards in the closing stages — Cheikh Dia, Abdel Hbouch and his brother A. Hbouch — hinted at the frustration building on both benches.
Ganghane dominated possession at 59 per cent and registered 82 attacks compared to Boulogne's 81, but their shot accuracy of just 21 per cent meant they were wasteful in the final third. The statistics tell a story of plenty of shots — 3 on target against 2 — but not enough quality to break down a resilient defence that made 21 clearances.
The result leaves Ganghane sitting eleventh with five points from five games, while Boulogne remain thirteen places down on four points from their opening five fixtures. It was a fourth straight game where the visitors failed to win, and the gap between the sides in the table now looks like it might grow rather than close.
