About the player
Sean Clare played in the 2019 Scottish Cup Final for Heart of Midlothian, which Celtic won 2–1. He made 54 appearances for the club after arriving in 2018 from Sheffield Wednesday.
Clare came to Sheffield Wednesday in 2016 from the Nike Academy. Instead he was sent out on loan three times: four appearances for Bury, eight for Accrington Stanley and 21 for Gillingham.
Oxford United signed him in 2020 for an undisclosed fee. He played 17 times and was then loaned to Burton Albion, where he made 20 appearances. In 2021 he moved to Charlton Athletic and stayed two years, making 76 appearances. Wigan Athletic gave him a three-year contract in 2023, and he played 33 times for them.
In July 2024 he joined Leyton Orient on a three-year contract that runs to June 2027.
Clare plays internationally for the Turks and Caicos Islands. He is eligible through Irish and Ghanaian descent. He made his debut on 23 September 2026 in a CONCACAF Nations League match against Montserrat, which Turks and Caicos lost 2–0.
