Billy Forbes carries the Turks and Caicos Islands attack in the record books alone: 19 goals in 36 caps.

The wait for a first win lasted more than fifteen years. The team lost its opening official fixture 0–3 to the Bahamas on 24 February 1999, and did not beat anyone until 3 June 2014, when a 2–0 win over the British Virgin Islands lifted it from 207th to 181st in the FIFA rankings overnight.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association had joined FIFA the same year as that first defeat, having already worked its way through CONCACAF as an associate member from 1994. Since then the results have swung between rare high points, a 5–2 win over Sint Maarten in the 2019–20 CONCACAF Nations League among them, and heavy defeats, including an 11–0 loss to Cuba in 2018 that dropped the side to its lowest ranking, 211th. The best placing, 158th, came back in February 2008, under Matthew Green's predecessor Gino Pacitto.

There is no World Cup or Gold Cup history to point to, and no nickname has stuck. Matches against the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla make up most of the calendar, played out in front of no more than 3,000 people at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales.
