About the player
Thomas Didillon-Hödl's career has been shaped as much by what happened off the pitch as by his performances on it. A season-long loan to Monaco in 2022–23 did little to revive his match rhythm, since he served purely as backup to Alexander Nübel.
That stretch followed a career built through the Clairefontaine academy and FC Metz, where Didillon-Hödl made his professional debut in 2014.
A 94% save percentage and four clean sheets across his opening ten matches earned him the Eredivisie's Player of the Month and Team of the Month awards for October 2024. He went on to save a decisive penalty in the promotion play-off shootout against FC Volendam, sending Willem II back up to the Eredivisie. His return to the top flight was cut short in August 2026, when a serious hamstring injury in the opening match against Go Ahead Eagles ruled him out for several months.
Didillon-Hödl won the Toulon Tournament with France's under-20 side in 2015, though he has not featured for the senior national team.
