About the player
Tomasz Wójtowicz came through the youth academy at Ruch Chorzów, joining the club in 2003. He made his senior debut there in 2020 and worked his way up through the lower Polish divisions, appearing in the III Liga, II Liga and I Liga before establishing himself in Ruch's Ekstraklasa side. By the time he left, he had made more than 100 appearances for the Chorzów club. In July 2023 he was named Player of the Match against Zagłębie Lubin.
In July 2024, Wójtowicz moved to Lechia Gdańsk on a three-year contract. Lechia missed the payment deadline for the fee agreed with Ruch Chorzów, and the Polish FA suspended the club's licence as a result. The debt was eventually cleared through a loan from the Ekstraklasa league itself, avoiding a transfer ban for Gdańsk.
Primarily an attacking midfielder capable of dropping into right-back, he has also represented Poland at Under-20 and Under-21 level. Across his career with Ruch Chorzów and Lechia Gdańsk combined, he has passed 125 league appearances and scored nine goals. He has yet to add a major trophy to that record with either club.
