Toby Sibbick

Toby Sibbick's most memorable afternoon at Heart of Midlothian came in the Scottish Cup in January 2023, when he scored in a 3-0 fourth-round win over Hibernian and was named Man of the Match.

Hearts had signed him permanently a year earlier, in January 2022, on a three-and-a-half-year deal. He already knew the club: he had spent the second half of the 2019–20 season there on loan from Barnsley. Hibernian had made a bid for him before the move, which Barnsley rejected. Interest from elsewhere followed. In January 2023 Blackpool manager Mick McCarthy publicly questioned whether Hearts were being honest about a bid for the player, suggesting the club was inventing interest to start a bidding war. Hearts rejected that and said Sibbick was not for sale.

His route to Scotland began in west London. He played youth football at Feltham FC and Conquest Academy before joining AFC Wimbledon's academy in 2014, and made his first-team debut there in 2017. He was nominated for the club's WISA Allen Batsford Player of the Year award for 2018–19 but did not win it. Barnsley signed him in the summer of 2019. His first goal for them came against Cardiff City in August 2021. A loan to K.V. Oostende in the second half of 2020 ended early, and he made no senior appearances for the Belgian club.

Sibbick left Hearts in July 2024 for Wigan Athletic on a two-year contract, and joined Burton Albion in July 2025 on a two-year deal with an option for a third year.

He did not play for England at youth level. Through his mother he switched allegiance to Uganda, and made his international debut for them in 2024.
