About the player
Seol Young-woo's move to Red Star Belgrade in June 2024 followed his rise through the club's own youth pipeline at Hyundai Middle School and Hyundai High School before returning to the first team from Ulsan University. He won the K League 1 title in both 2022 and 2023, was named the league's Young Player of the Year in 2021, and picked up Player of the Month honours on three separate occasions, capped by a place in the 2023 K League 1 Best XI and All-Star team. He also lifted the AFC Champions League Elite with the club.
At Red Star he won the Serbian SuperLiga and Serbian Cup double in successive seasons, 2024–25 and 2025–26, passing 100 appearances for the club along the way. In August 2026, Augsburg paid roughly €3.75–3.8 million for his signature and handed him a four-year deal and the number 7 shirt in the Bundesliga.
Internationally, Seol has earned 37 caps for South Korea and started all three of the country's group-stage matches at the 2026 World Cup. Before that, he had already won a gold medal with the South Korea under-23 side at the 2022 Asian Games.
