Al Waab

Amateur football in Doha does not usually get a professional afterlife, but Al-Waab SC did: the side started out in 2014 as Al-Nasr SC, working its way through the Qatar Amateur League, and only in September 2019 did the Qatar Football Association grant it official status and the name it now carries, taken from the Al Waab district where it is based. The switch left a loose thread — the 2018–19 amateur title was won under the old name, in the season before the rebrand, so the club's fifth Amateur League crown sits just before the line that separates Al-Nasr from Al-Waab.

The three that came before it are cleaner: Al-Waab took the competition in its very first year, 2013–14, then again in 2015–16 and 2016–17, a run that gave the club its identity long before it had professional papers.

Matches are played at the Doha Sport Stadium, a ground built for amateur crowds rather than a promotion push, with room for three thousand. The club runs out in emerald green, with black and off-white kept for away days, and the name itself translates as "The Leaper" — there is no nickname beyond that in everyday use.

Al-Markhiya SC is treated locally as the closest thing to a rival, though the fixture carries no derby name of its own. In the Second Division, where Qatari clubs push for a place among the country's elite, Al-Waab finished fourth in 2024–25 — enough to stay competitive, not enough to force the step up to the top flight it has yet to reach.
