North Street sits away from Alfreton's centre, a compact enclosure known locally as the Impact Arena, holding 3,600 with room for 1,500 to sit.
Alfreton Town came together in 1959, when Alfreton Miners Welfare merged with Alfreton United, and the club spent most of its life working through the levels of non-league football rather than above them. The breakthrough came in 2010–11, when the National League North title carried Alfreton into the National League for the first time in their history. The stay lasted four seasons before relegation in 2015, but by then the club had already banked three FA Cup Second Round appearances, in 2008–09, 2012–13 and 2023–24, results that measured against clubs several divisions above.
The Derbyshire Senior Cup has been won ten times, more than any other honour on the club's list, and the fixture with Ilkeston Town has carried the local rivalry longer than any of the league titles.
Money has occasionally followed talent out of North Street. Aden Flint left for Swindon Town in 2011 for £150,000, a club-record fee at the time.
