National 2 has not existed for APM Metz before this season. It reached that level after winning Régional 1 Grand Est in 2025–2026, and the club had never played in a national championship until then.
The team grew out of the football section of the Amicale du Personnel Municipal, a social club for the city's municipal workers, before separating into its own association under the Law of 1901 at the end of the 2013–2014 season. It plays in yellow at home and blue away.
Ties to FC Metz run through more than geography: the two meet in what locals call the derby messin, and a partnership between the clubs brought Samy Kehli, formerly on the books at Saint-Symphorien, to APM as a player and youth educator. Jules Jager has carried the scoring load in National 2.
Matches are played at the Stade Émile Weinberg, named for the man who founded the club in 1949.
