Sean Joyce arrived at Bideford as a player in 1996 and took charge of the team in 1998. He is still the manager.
Under him the Western League Premier Division came to Bideford five times: in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010. The club had won it before, in 1964, 1971, 1972, 1982 and 1983, so the title was not new to the place. In 2012 the Robins won the Southern League Division One South & West, a step up from the Western League, where they had spent so long at the top. Joyce's teams also lifted the Western League Cup in 2002 and 2004, and the Devon St Lukes Bowl in 2010, 2022 and 2025. The last two came more than two decades into his tenure.
The Sports Ground on Kingsley Road holds 6,000, though only 375 of them sit.
The biggest crowd on record is older than Joyce by half a century: 5,975 for an FA Cup tie against Gloucester City in 1949. The name Bideford Town goes back to 1883, and after the war the club was reformed as Bideford A.F.C. and entered the North Devon League. From there the Robins worked their way up the Western League.
