Five clubs took the field for Dorchester in the summer of 1910, and by the end of August only one remained: Dorchester FC, Dorchester Wanderers, Dorchester United, Dorchester Athletic and Dorchester Rovers merged on 26 August 1910 into Dorchester Town. The original Dorchester Football Club had been playing since 18 October 1880.
Weymouth provide the fixture locals call the Ridgeway Derby.
Dennis "Dinky" Curtis is still voted the club's greatest player, 235 goals in 458 games worth of claim to that title. Graham Roberts left for Tottenham Hotspur and later won the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup, and Harry Redknapp turned out on loan here while still on Bournemouth's books.
The league honours read smaller by comparison — a Dorset League title in 1937–38, a Western Football League championship in 1954–55, two Southern League South Division titles either side of 1980 — and in 2015 the club restructured as a Community Benefit Society, putting part-ownership in supporters' hands.
