Bo'ness United

Bo'ness United came together at the end of the Second World War, when the town's old senior side merged with the Junior club Bo'ness Cadora. That 1945 union produced the club known today as The B.U.'s, playing in royal blue and white at Newtown Park, a ground that has staged football since the 1880s and holds 2,500.

The old Bo'ness side had carried a Scotland international in Alex Munro, and the merged club went on producing players who did the same: Alex Scott moved through Rangers, Everton and Hibernian on his way to a Scotland cap, and Jim Scott followed a similar route via Hibernian and Newcastle United. Donald Ford, capped while at Hearts, also came through Bo'ness United.

Success at Junior level came in short, repeated bursts rather than one golden era: Linlithgow Rose supply the fixture the town treats as derby day, with East Stirlingshire the lesser rival.

The most recent shift came in 2020, when Bo'ness United won the East of Scotland Football League Premier Division and went up to the Lowland League, a step out of Junior football and into the senior pyramid. A Scottish Junior Cup has not come back to Newtown Park since 1984.
