When Boris Mikhailov died in 1999, the team that carried his name stopped with him. "BoMiK" is simply "Boris Mikhailov Komanda", the team of an electrotechnics teacher who had coached local players in Tsivilsk for years and put the club together in 1993.

The gap lasted twelve years. In 2011 Sergei Mikhailov, a namesake and no relation, revived the club with his son Pavel. Their aim was to keep the founder's memory going. The legal entity was re-registered on 4 June 2019.

Tsivilsk has no stadium that meets league requirements, so BoMiK play their home games at the Spartak Stadium in Cheboksary, which holds 7,500. The town's team plays in the republic's capital.

The revived club was slow to win anything. It took bronze in the Chuvash Republic Championship in 2018, and then came 2022.

The Chuvash Republic Cup then went to Tsivilsk in 2023, 2024 and 2025. In 2025 the club added the republic's Super Cup. Most of these matches have been against FC Shumerlya, the rival BoMiK meet most often in the championship and the cup.

Sergei Mukhotin is the head coach now, with Sergei Kirsanov as his assistant. The squad's forward line is led by Islam Evloev.

Yet the name on the shirts still belongs to Boris Mikhailov, who was born in 1949. The club exists because he taught a generation of local boys to play, and the people who brought it back did so for him.
