Celoricense

Porto won 0-4, but for a side drawn from Celorico de Basto that afternoon still stands as the furthest the club has gone.

It got there by winning first at home. In 2023/24 Celoricense took the Divisão de Honra of the Braga football association, Série B, and a year later added the Liga Regional de Braga itself, a regional title the club had not held before. Promotion followed, into the Campeonato de Portugal, the fourth tier, for the first time since the club was formed in 1931. Before the domestic cup draw sent them to Porto, they had already beaten CD Celeirós 3-1 to take the Supertaça da AF Braga.

The nickname carried into that run, Os Limianos, ties the club to the wider Minho region rather than to Celorico de Basto alone. Locally the fixture that matters is against Pevidém, played out in the lower divisions without a name of its own, the kind of derby that means more on the day than it does written down afterwards.

None of it changes what still waits for the team at home: the Estádio Municipal de Celorico de Basto, on Rua do Estádio Municipal in Britelo, holds 400 people, and it was to that ground, not to Porto's, that the crowd came back to talk over what they had just seen.
