Charlotte Independence II

It is a young rivalry.

Charlotte Independence II came together in April 2019 from three of those pieces, Discoveries SC, Carolina Rapids and Lake Norman SC. The professional Charlotte Independence, in USL League One, needed a reserve side in USL League Two, and merging three local clubs gave it one. The 2020 season was cancelled because of the pandemic, so the first competitive games came in 2021. Like the parent club, the team is called The Jacks , after Captain James Jack.

In 2021 the side finished last in the Chesapeake Division with 10 points. It was eighth in 2022 with 15, ninth in 2023 with 12 and tenth in 2024 with 10, and it missed the playoffs each time. In 2025, in the South Atlantic Division, it reached the first round of the playoffs and lost 4-1 to Lionsbridge FC.

The table understates what the team is for. Owen Barber and Joey Skinner signed for the first team in 2020, and Nashville SC later drafted Skinner. In May 2024 Ryan Behrmann and Ethan Yates signed USL Academy contracts. Players from Rock Hill are still moving up to the professional side.

Home games are played at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex in Rock Hill, on either Brannan Field or Carlisle Field. Each holds 750 people. The team wears navy, blue and parchment.

All of this goes back to April 2019, when three small clubs agreed to become one.
