Chemik Bydgoszcz

Stadion im. Czesława Kobusa holds 15,000. That origin shows: the club began as Koło Sportowe Wisła Łęgnowo, formed by workers at the local chemical plant in the Łęgnowo district of Bydgoszcz, and the football section was organised separately as KS Unia Łęgnowo in 1951.

What followed was a run of names rather than a settled identity: Unia-Wisła, Gryf Bydgoszcz, Zachem Bydgoszcz, and only in the mid-1970s did BKS Chemik Bydgoszcz become fixed. Between 1991 and 1993 it played as Weltinex Chemik. A merger with Zawisza Bydgoszcz in 2001 produced Chemik/Zawisza Bydgoszcz, dissolved again in 2004. Zawisza remains the derby opponent, and the Derby Bydgoszczy is still fought without any trophy at stake between the two, since Chemik has never won a major honour.

The club's best league finish came in 1991–92, fifth in the II liga, and its more durable legacy is in the players it produced rather than what they won there: Stefan Majewski left Łęgnowo for a career that took in a World Cup bronze medal with Poland in 1982, and Jakub Piotrowski came through the same academy before establishing himself in the national side decades later. Chemik itself has spent recent seasons shuttling between the third and fourth tiers, promoted back to the III liga for 2025–26 after winning the IV Liga Kuyavia-Pomerania.
