Civil Service Strollers

The club began life as a team for workers in the civil service before the name shortened to what supporters use now, and it settled at Christie Gillies Park on Marine Drive in 1957.

The honours list runs long for a club of this size, but it belongs almost entirely to the amateur game around Edinburgh and the Borders: three East of Scotland League Premier Division titles, two Scottish Amateur Cups either side of the First World War, and a scatter of regional cups picked up across the decades. The most recent addition, the SFA South Region Challenge Cup in 2017–18, came the year after the club had already made its bigger move — election to the Lowland Football League for the 2016–17 season, a step up out of the amateur ranks it had occupied since 1908.

None of that history carries the weight, locally, of the fixture with Spartans. The two clubs sit close enough together in north Edinburgh that their meetings are known simply as the North Edinburgh Derby, the kind of game where form and league position matter less than the result. The Strollers' academy has produced at least one player who went further: Danny Handling came through the club before making his senior debut for Hibernian in 2011.

The colours have stayed navy blue and red since long before any of that, and the ground still holds fewer than 1,600 people.
