Coburg

Lars Scheler is the current coach of the club. He now steers a team that was born out of necessity in 2011. FC Coburg was founded on 8 September 2011 as a phoenix club, absorbing the players and youth academy of its predecessor to keep the local game alive.

The history of football here is layered. Before the 2011 merger, VfB Coburg (founded 1907) and DJK/Viktoria Coburg (founded 1909) had already spent decades battling in the lower tiers. The most notable period came under VfB Coburg, who competed in the Bayernliga for 21 seasons between 1952 and 1984. That era included a single DFB-Pokal appearance in 1977-78, where they lost 3-0 away to TuS Langerwehe. Since the 2011 reboot, the new entity has focused on stability, winning the Bezirksliga Oberfranken-West in 2015 .

The club maintains an extensive youth structure, running twelve teams from under-7 level up to senior football. On the pitch, the atmosphere is defined by local rivalries. Matches against FC Lichtenfels are known as the "Derby", while games versus SV Bosporus Coburg carry the weight of the "Coburger Derby". The colours of the strip—red, white, and black—remain unchanged from the earlier iterations of the club.

All of this activity takes place at the Dr.-Eugen-Stocke-Stadion, often referred to simply as the Stocke-Stadion. Located at Wiesenstraße, the ground holds 4,500 spectators. It is a functional space, unpretentious and rooted in the community.
