The NGN-Arena sits tucked into the quiet landscape of the Rhön-Grabfeld district.

Founded in 1921, the club’s story is one of persistence rather than glamour. It has not sought fame in the big leagues but has carved out a niche in the Bavarian football system. They won the C-Klasse in the 1950s and 1960s, then moved up to the A-Klasse, securing titles in 1981, 1986, and 1993. But it was 2019 that changed the narrative. Winning the Bayernliga Nord not only earned them promotion to the Regionalliga Bayern but also placed them in the fourth tier of German football, a level they still contest today.

Yet, it is the cup runs that capture the imagination. In the 2021–22 season, they pulled off a stunning run to the Bavarian Cup final, eliminating two teams from the 3. Liga along the way. It was a fairy tale that ended with a penalty shootout loss to FV Illertissen, but the shockwaves it sent through the region remain.
