Ingolstadt II

FC Ingolstadt 04's teams carry the name Die Schanzer without distinction.

It came together in 2004, when MTV Ingolstadt and ESV Ingolstadt merged into a single senior club, and the second team was built into that structure from the start. Its best spell came in 2010-11, when it finished runners-up in the Bayernliga on 63 points, three behind champions FC Ismaning. Ismaning turned down the Regionalliga licence that the title carried, and Ingolstadt II moved up in their place without playing a promotion match. The team held its own in the Regionalliga Bayern from 2012 to 2017, eighth and sixth in its first two seasons there, before dropping back to the Bayernliga.

Ognjen Drakulić is the clearest case the pathway has produced lately: the Serbian forward joined the academy in 2021, was pulled into the reserve squad during the 2023-24 season, and was in the first team's squad by 2024. Frederic Ananou passed through a season later in the other direction, leaving for Sint-Truiden in the Belgian Pro League after a year with the reserves.

Matches are played at the Bezirkssportanlage Süd-Oost, known locally as the ESV-Stadion.

The rivalry that still gets marked on the calendar is with TSV 1860 München, the Bavarian derby, twelve meetings between the sides by May 2025 — a fixture the reserve team inherited rather than built, but plays with the same name attached.
