Coleshill Town

Wilson Palacios was on trial at Pack Meadow in 2009, wearing a Birmingham City shirt in a match against Coleshill Town. The Honduran international scored twice in 45 minutes, and the move to Tottenham Hotspur followed. A ground of 2,070 capacity, on Packington Lane, ended up in the story of a Premier League transfer.

The Colemen had been at Pack Meadow since 1974. They left their previous ground because it did not meet the requirements for promotion, and the league they were chasing was the Midland Combination. They won its Premier Division in 2007–08, and a 3G pitch certified as FIFA 2 Star went in during 2015.

The best run came in 2016–17, in the FA Vase. Coleshill beat Sporting Khalsa 2-0 in the quarter-final, the furthest the club had gone in the competition, and lost the semi-final to South Shields 6-1 on aggregate. Manager Simon Lyons called it "beyond our wildest dreams."

Away from the Vase, the club's calendar has long been local. Atherstone Town is the fixture most often called the derby, with Sutton Coldfield Town the other near neighbour. The shelf of older trophies runs from the Coleshill Charity Cup, first won in 1909–10, through the Aston Villa Shield in the 1960s to the Walsall Senior Cup in 1982–83.

The name the town mentions first is Gary Shaw. Aston Villa took him from Coleshill Town at 16, and he went on to win the European Cup with them in 1982. The club calls him its "greatest son".
