Darlington 1883

The first Darlington, the one founded in 1883, left Feethams in 2003 for a new ground with room for 25,000. The move was meant to lift the club. Instead the debts it created, added to the financial difficulties already there, led to administration and, in 2012, expulsion from the Football Association. Goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Kasper Schmeichel both made their debuts there, and the club had won the FA Trophy as recently as 2011.

That same June, supporters formed a new club they owned themselves, Darlington 1883 . Two more promotions followed, the last as champions of the Northern Premier League Premier Division in 2015–16. That made three promotions in four seasons and put the club in the National League North. In 2017 the FA approved a return to the name Darlington F.C.

The club now plays at Blackwell Meadows. Blackwell Meadows holds 3,281, and 588 of those are seats.
