Dothan United

Rip Hewes Stadium seats 10,000, a lot of room for a town of Dothan's size, and in October 2025 the Dragons filled it with a playoff run of their own. They had gone 10–0–2 in the regular season and finished second in the South Central Division. They then reached the USL League Two Southern Conference Final, where Vermont Green FC beat them on penalties.

That was only the club's second season. Carl Reynolds , the founding head coach, had built the side and led it through the 2024 debut and the 2025 run. He then left for a position at Liberty University. In January 2026 Ricky Davey took over from him, arriving from the Atlanta United Academy U14 team. On 12 July 2026 Dothan beat Apotheos FC 3–0 to clinch the South Central Division for the first time.

The local player in the squad is Alec Palanjian , a Dothan native who came up through the Dothan Shockers youth system. He joined for the 2024 season after time at Auburn University and the University of Central Arkansas.

The "231 Derby" against Montgomery United FC takes its name from U.S. Route 231, the road linking the two cities, and the matches have been chippy, with officiating rows. Against Columbus United FC the fixture is the "Peanuts and Cola Derby", after Columbus's peanut industry and Dothan's cola industry. The 2026 meeting was picked as the league's Game of the Week.

The club began in November 2023 as an announcement and a placeholder, "Dothan FC". A name-the-team contest ran that December, and in January 2024 the Dragons, in red, black and gold, the colours of Dothan High School, replaced it.
