The "Derby Europa" is Gibraltar's oldest grudge match: Europa FC against Lincoln Red Imps, with St Joseph's FC completing the list of rivals worth naming.

Europa spent its best years long before that rivalry meant much. Between 1929 and 1952 the club won eight Gibraltar Premier Division titles and eleven Rock Cups, a run that had no equal on the Rock at the time. It came back in 2015, when the Gibraltar Football Association restored the old honours list to the reborn Europa FC.

What followed was compressed into a few seasons. Promoted from the Second Division in 2013, Europa won the Premier Division, the Rock Cup and the Pepe Reyes Cup in 2016–17, then added a second modern league title in 2019–20. Liam Walker , who had come through at Portsmouth, scored the goal that clinched the 2017 title. The same season carried the club into Europe for the first time: in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League, Europa beat FC Pyunik 3–2 on aggregate, the first competitive UEFA win by a Gibraltarian club.

They play in green and black — the stripes give the club its nickname, the Green Machine — at the Victoria Stadium, which holds 5,000.
