Exeter U21

Exeter City's under-21s spend their weekends in the Premier League Cup and the Professional Development League, and no trophy has followed them into either yet.

The academy took its current shape in 2005, restructured a year later, and since then has sent players through to clubs well above Exeter's own level: Ollie Watkins left for Aston Villa, Ethan Ampadu for Chelsea, Matt Grimes for Swansea City.

The fixture that still matters most to whoever is watching the age-group sides is the one against Plymouth Argyle, the Devon Derby, with Torquay United supplying a smaller, more local edge to the rivalry. Neither corner of Devon offers a stage as large as the shirts the graduates go on to wear.
