F91 Dudelange

The nickname came with the players. When Portuguese and Cape Verdean workers settled around the steelworks in the south of Luxembourg, their sons ended up in the local sides, and the club that emerged from those sides is still known as Os Leões 91 — the Lions 91.

Three clubs from the same town went into it: Alliance Dudelange, Stade Dudelange and US Dudelange, merged on 26 April 1991. The first national championship followed in 2000, and from that season to 2022 the National Division was won 16 times.

The home ground, Stade Jos Nosbaum , holds 2,558, all seated.

In 2005/06, 2006/07, 2015/16 and 2018/19 the league and the Coupe de Luxembourg were taken in the same season — four times in fourteen years.

The colours stayed yellow and red through all of it, as did the town: Dudelange, canton of Esch-sur-Alzette, a place of roughly the size that fills the Nosbaum twice over.
