FC Astoria Walldorf

No rivalry rises above the ground itself at times: for the 2006 World Cup, the Dietmar-Hopp-Sportpark hosted Costa Rica's training camp. Astoria's own story starts with a merger, on 15 February 1995, that put the club together in Walldorf, a Baden-Württemberg town not otherwise known for its football. Roland Dickgießer's name runs through the club's rise all the same — he coached there before moving into the role of sporting director.

That promotion came in 2014, when the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg title lifted the club into the Regionalliga Südwest for the first time. The same year brought the first of three Badischer Pokal wins, repeated in 2016 and again in 2023.

The one night the wider football public noticed Walldorf came in the 2016/17 DFB-Pokal , when Astoria beat VfL Bochum 4-3 after extra time in the first round, then went out to Arminia Bielefeld in the second — a run as far as the Round of 16, still the best the club has managed in the competition. Marvin Wanitzek wore the shirt during those years.

The FC-Astoria Stadion holds up to 5,000, and the badge remains blue and white.
