Grom Nowy Staw

Stadion Miejski OSiR Nowy Staw holds a thousand spectators.

The club under that ground has changed its name more often than its league. It started life in 1946 as Błyskawica Nowy Staw, became Gwardia Nowy Staw in 1949, and after Gwardia was dissolved in 1953 carried on as LZS Nowy Staw. A merger with Perła Grajewo in 1984 produced the name it keeps now, MKS Grom Nowy Staw.

Promotion out of the Klasa Okręgowa in 2015/16 took Grom into IV Liga, and by 2019/20 the club had climbed as far as III Liga, only to withdraw from that season when the pandemic broke the fixture list. In the 2024 Pomeranian Cup, Grom beat Sparta Sycewice 5:0 in the final in Malbork to take the regional title.

That cup run earned a trip into the Polish Cup proper, where Grom were paired against ŁKS Łódź in September 2024 and lost 0:2 — a reminder of the gap between a regional final and a first-round tie against a club several divisions above. Dawid Leleń, goalkeeper and playing coach, having come through Legia Warszawa's reserves and Polonia Warszawa, is the figure who holds a semi-professional squad together on a ground where most players still work day jobs.

A return to III Liga, the level the pandemic took away mid-season, is the step Grom have not managed to make stick.
