Imst

The first Imst side, FC Imst, ran into trouble that many small-town clubs know: On 17 August 1955 it was dissolved because of excessive debt, and the town started again under the name SC Imst. It had been formed in the spring of 1933 under chairman Franz Schöpfer. The two strands were brought back together in 1994, when the club merged with a re-founded FC Imst.

The best stretch came in the 1980s. Imst played in the Regionalliga West from 1982 to 1988 and finished third in 1984/85, the season in which they also won the Tiroler Landescup. They took it again in 1986 after losing the 1983 final. Then came a long drop. From 1988 to 2019 the club sat in the Tiroler Liga, the fifth tier, before returning to the Regionalliga West.

Bernhard Lampl took over as coach in September 2022. In 2023 the side won the Tiroler Landescup for a third time, and the Tirol Super Cup with it. In April 2024 the club received its licence for the 2. Bundesliga at the first instance.

The VELY Arena Imst, which holds 2,550 and opened in 1997, is where the derbies are played. Imst meet SV Telfs in the "Oberland-Derby", a contest between neighbours in the Upper Land. Against FC Wacker Innsbruck the match is the "Tirol-Derby", and SV Hall are a regular opponent with a history of their own.
