Karkonosze Jelenia Góra

The IV liga title in 2020/21, followed by another in 2022/23, each one settled not on points alone but through a play-off, first against Lechia Dzierżoniów and then against Słowianin Wolibórz.

The club traces back to November 1953. What began as JKS "Unia" merged with "Start" in 1957, then with a military side, then with "Polonia", then with a chemical-plant club, and cycled through names such as Kem-Bud and Progres before the current one was restored in January 2004. They were the ordinary reshuffling of Polish provincial football through the decades, and the club that came out the other end kept the same colours throughout.

Those colours, white and blue, gave the supporters their own name for the team, "Biało-niebiescy", alongside the shorter "Karki". The closest thing to a national moment came long before any of the recent promotions, in the 1961/62 Puchar Polski, when the side reached the quarter-finals. The best league placing followed decades later, in the II liga during 1997/98 and 1998/99, finishing 10th and then 12th before dropping back down.

Games against Górnik Wałbrzych carry more weight locally than any cup run, billed as the "Wielkie Derby Sudetów", a fixture built on geography rather than on shared history in the same division. Karkonosze now sit in the III liga, the level their last two promotions were fought for, with staying there the more pressing task than climbing further for now.
