Zagłębie Lubin II

Zagłębie Lubin's first team grew out of two clubs that never fielded a reserve side of their own until the parent organisation had settled into its identity — registered as KS Zawisza Lubin in March 1946, after starting life the previous autumn as OMTUR Lubin. The second team that carries that name today traces its own record back to 1946, and it has spent its existence doing what reserve sides do: feeding the first team while chasing its own silverware in the lower divisions.

That work has produced a real trophy case for a fourth-tier side. Promotion out of the III Liga Group III in 2021-22 stands as the highest of several regional titles, alongside wins in the III Liga Lower Silesia and the IV Liga in its western and Legnica groupings. In the regional cup, Lubin's second string has made a habit of winning the Legnica edition, picking one up in ten different seasons between 1985-86 and 2021-22.

The fixture that matters most to this team has nothing to do with silverware. When Zagłębie Lubin II meets Miedź Legnica's reserves, it is billed as the Derby of Lower Silesia, a copper-country rivalry played out one level down from the one between the senior sides.

More than the results, it is the names that have passed through on their way up that give the second team its weight. Piotr Zieliński came through this academy before his career took him abroad, as did Krzysztof Piątek. More recently, Bright Ede wore the shirt before his move to Motor Lublin in 2025 — a small, current reminder that the second team's real purpose is still to be a corridor, not a destination.
