The Estádio Capitão Josino da Costa holds barely a thousand people.
Grupo Desportivo da Lagoa took shape in January 1971 in the Algarve municipality of the same name. The clearest of them was 2008–09, when the club won the 3ª Divisão (Série F) and, in the same season, finished second in the Segunda Divisão. Cordeiro, at centre-back, was the player most associated with holding that side together.
Further back, the 1989–90 season produced the Algarve District Championship, with Luis Filipe a fixture across four years at the club including that title-winning run. A regional crown followed in 2015–16, the Campeonato de Honra. There was still life in the cup, though — in 2024–25 the club knocked out União 1919 in the Taça de Portugal before running into FC Famalicão in the third round.
