Stade Charles Massot seats 4,800. That is the ground of a club that in 2024 reached the Coupe de France quarter-finals. For a side from Le Puy-en-Velay in Haute-Loire, that was a long way from the ground's usual crowds.

The present club dates from 2009, when USF Le Puy and AS Taulhac merged. It is not the first Le Puy side to reach a national stage. Under the name CO Le Puy, the town spent five seasons in Ligue 2, from 1984 to 1989.

After the merger the club moved up through the national divisions. It has won Group B of National 2 three times: in 2019, 2022 and 2025. The 2024 cup run came between the second and third of those titles. The nickname is Les Ponots, the colours are light blue and white, and the nearest rivals are Rodez and Aurillac.

The 2025 title is the most recent entry in that sequence, and it is the one the club now has to build on.
