Mecklenburg Schwerin FC

After the football department of Schweriner SC split off in 1996, FC Eintracht Schwerin formed from it, then merged with 1. FSV Schwerin a year later. The lineage behind 1. FSV went back to SG Dynamo Schwerin, set up in 1945. From 2009 Eintracht, Schweriner SC's mass sports department and Dynamo ran a joint project under the name FC Mecklenburg Schwerin.

The project became a single club on 28 May 2013, when Eintracht and the support association merged. The new club carries the history of the older ones with it. That history includes Steffen Baumgart, who came through Dynamo's ranks and later managed Eintracht Braunschweig. It also includes Andreas Reinke, who went on to Hamburger SV.

In July 2012 the club took a 25-year lease on Sportpark Lankow, in the Lankow district. It holds 1,500 seated and 2,000 in all.

It finished second in the Verbandsliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2014–15, and won the league the following season. Promotion to the fifth-tier NOFV-Oberliga Nord followed. The team won the Verbandsliga again in 2020–21.

The academy has since sent players on to bigger clubs. Mattes Petereit moved to Hansa Rostock and then Eintracht Braunschweig. Enrico Neitzel also went to Hansa. Nelson Mandela Mbouhom trained at Barcelona and played for Eintracht Frankfurt. In the local derby, Rot-Gelben, as the senior side are known, meet MSV Pampow.
